Maple View Farm will be shearing on May 17.
We shear the alpacas once a year. Since we do a large number (over 100 across 5 farms) and many of them are pregnant, we use Matt Best, a professional shearer. Matt is able to shear an alpaca in less than 10 minutes so he keeps the rest of us hopping with our jobs! It’s a fun day (I think in the end, even the alpacas like it) but it’s hard work.
Our schedule is set … our farm will be done Tuesday morning May 17. The best time to visit will be between 9:00 am and noon. If you are interesting in observing, drop us an email at mvfalpacas@earthlink.net or give us a call at 802.247.5412. It’s always an interesting day to observe (and some times help!)
